1. Course Prerequisites
To attain success in this course, complete the following prerequisites:
Mobile: Introduction
- Understand mobile apps and their features.
- Familiarity with terminology used in this course.
- Overview of Mobile App Builder.
Mobile: Create an Application and Mobile: Create and Apply List Screens
- Applications and list screens created in these courses are used.
- Instance configurations are included, or use the provided update sets if using a different instance.
Go To Your Instance
- Utilize the "Go To Your Instance" link in the course banner.
- Keep note of the expiration date.
Testing Configurations
- Use Beth Anglin or Tyree Courrege for testing.
- Log in as admin and impersonate Beth or Tyree.
Download Mobile Apps
- Download mobile apps on the testing device using the app store or your organization's mobile device management.
Utilize Update Sets
- Save configurations using update sets.
- Rebuild applets and configure settings if the instance is reclaimed.
Review Icons Page
- Bookmark the Mobile Icons ServiceNow docs page to ensure supported icons are used.
Missing Applications or List Screen
If the instance lacks referenced applications or list screens, use the following update sets:
- End-Users-Apps-Mobile-Application.xml (2.9 MB)
- Work-Orders-Mobile-Application.xml (1.8 MB)
- End-User-With-ListScreen.xml (3 MB)
Note on Differences
Be aware that differences in screenshots or videos may occur due to OS variations or different app versions.
2. Filters Overview
Filters View
Filters within Mobile App Builder on the top layer of the list screen. By default, filters use fields assigned to the card for the screen.
Sort By Option
Defaults to sort defined in the data item.
Additional sort values based on card fields.
Customizable, but overrides default filters. Reconfigure desired filters.
Hide Filters
Toggle on "Hide filters" at the screen's top level if no filter options should be presented.
3. Create Custom Filters
To customize filters for a screen, follow these steps within Mobile App Builder:
Example:
Open Mobile App Builder within the instance.
Enter the "End User Apps Mobile" application created in a previous training.
Open the "My Critical/High Incidents List" screen.
Customizing Filters
Within the screen, find the Custom filter section for adding or choosing custom filters.
Click through the configuration process.
Step 1: Filter Settings
Provide a Name for the filter.
Add a Description for clarity.
Ensure the filter is Active.
Step 2: Filter Categories
Choose or create a filter category.
Specify Name, Label, and ensure it is Active.
Define the Data table for the category.
Step 3: Filter Condition
Add filter conditions with Name, Label, and ensure they are Active.
Select a Condition type.
Set the field to which the condition applies.
Optionally, define condition attributes.
Step 4: Filter Condition Fields
Assign a field by choosing or adding a New Filter condition field.
Provide a Name and set the Table defined for the category.
Step 5: Filter Condition Attribute
Define attributes specific to the Condition type.
Summary
Repeat the steps for each desired filter.
Note that custom filters disable the default Sort by.
Consider the trade-off before configuring custom filters.
Start Again
Understand the Condition Types, Field Types, and Attributes.
Use the provided chart for guidance.
Filter Order
Define the order using the Order column in the Filter conditions section.
Activity
Create a new custom filter for the "My Critical/High Incidents" list screen.
Follow the provided guidelines.
