Now we will use these words to make simple sentences clearer and more interesting.

- Use describing words in simple sentences.
- Choose suitable describing words.
- Use more than one describing word when appropriate.
Adding a Describing Word
A simple naming word can give us only basic information.
We can give more information by saying: red ball.
The word red describes the ball.
Describing People
The happy girl smiles.
The kind teacher helps us.
The words tall, happy and kind tell us more about the people.
Describing Animals
The small rabbit jumps.
The fast horse runs.
The describing words give us more information about the animals.
Describing Things
She has a blue bag.
The box is small.
The words red, blue and small describe the things.
Using Two Describing Words
Sometimes we can use two describing words together.
a small blue bag
a soft white pillow
Each sentence gives us more information because we use describing words carefully.
Choosing the Right Word
A describing word should make sense with the person, animal or thing.

A running apple ✗
Choose words that correctly describe what you are talking about.
