Maghrib Salah: In Arabic, English, and Hindi Transliteration

A Complete Guide to Maghrib Salah: Step-by-Step with Arabic, English, and Hindi Transliteration

Introduction

Maghrib Salah, the sunset prayer, is the fourth of the five daily prayers in Islam, performed immediately after sunset. It’s a serene moment to thank Allah (SWT) for the day and seek His guidance as night begins. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, "Whoever prays Maghrib and Isha in congregation will have the reward of spending the whole night in worship" (Sunan Ibn Majah). This guide details the three Rak’ahs of Fard and two Rak’ahs of Sunnah Mu’akkadah for Maghrib Salah, including Arabic recitations, their transliterations in English and Hindi, and translations. Whether you’re new to Salah or refining your prayer, this blog will help you perform Maghrib with devotion and ease.

Understanding Maghrib Salah

Maghrib Salah is performed right after sunset, within a short time frame before the redness in the sky disappears. It consists of three Rak’ahs Fard (obligatory) and two Rak’ahs Sunnah Mu’akkadah (highly recommended). The Quran emphasizes timely prayers: "Establish prayer at the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night" (Surah Al-Isra, 17:78). In congregation, the Fard Rak’ahs are recited aloud by the Imam in all three Rak’ahs; when alone, they are also recited aloud. The Sunnah Rak’ahs are prayed silently and individually. To prepare, perform Wudu, face the Qibla, and set a clear intention. Since Maghrib’s time is short, prioritize praying it promptly after the Adhan.

Step-by-Step Guide to Maghrib Salah

Maghrib Salah consists of three Rak’ahs Fard followed by two Rak’ahs Sunnah Mu’akkadah. Below is the detailed process for each Rak’ah, with recitations in Arabic, English transliteration, Hindi transliteration, and translations.

Fard Rak’ahs (3 Rak’ahs)

Note: The Fard Rak’ahs are prayed in one set of three Rak’ahs, recited aloud (by the Imam in congregation or alone). The first two Rak’ahs include Surah Al-Fatiha and another Surah, while the third includes only Surah Al-Fatiha.

First Rak’ah

1. Niyyah (Intention)

Make a silent intention in your heart for three Rak’ahs of Maghrib Fard.

نَوَيْتُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ لِلّٰهِ تَعَالَىٰ ثَلَاثَ رَكَعَاتٍ صَلَاةِ الْمَغْرِبِ فَرْضًا

English: Nawaytu an usalli lillahi ta’ala thalatha raka’atin salatil maghrib fardan

Hindi: नवायतु अन उस्सल्ली लिल्लाही तआला थलाथ रकआतिन सलातिल मगरिब फर्दन

First and Second Rak’ahs

Tips for Perfecting Maghrib Salah

Maghrib Salah has a short time window, so promptness is key. Here are some tips:

  • Timeliness: Pray immediately after sunset to avoid missing the time, especially during fasting in Ramadan.
  • Spiritual Motivation: Reflect on the Hadith: "The one who prays Maghrib will have their day’s deeds accepted" (Sunan Tirmidhi).
  • Avoid Mistakes: Pronounce recitations clearly, using the transliterations if needed, and avoid rushing.
  • After Maghrib: Recite Ayatul Kursi and evening Adhkar for protection through the night.

Praying Maghrib consistently brings peace and blessings. Seek Allah’s help to make it a cherished habit.

Conclusion

Maghrib Salah is a beautiful transition from day to night, offering gratitude to Allah (SWT). With three Fard Rak’ahs and two Sunnah Mu’akkadah Rak’ahs, it’s a concise yet profound act of worship.
